Where Did the Idea for Davis' Zombie Bike Parade Originate

Where did the idea for Davis' Zombie Bike Parade originate, you might ask?  And who brewed the winning formula that turned this into a beloved and ever-growing Davis tradition, brought to life by the Davis Odd Fellows and local non-profits?

Few may know that the spark first ignited in the mind of the infamous Zombie, Dave Rosenberg.  He, along with Lea Rosenberg, crafted the blueprint for an extraordinary event—a completely free community celebration that also raises significant funds for NorCal Trykers, an organization that builds custom tricycles for children with disabilities.

Soon after, Aaron Wedra joined forces with a small but dedicated committee of Odd Fellows, including Sheila Allen, Jenny Decker, Matthew Elliot, Scott Schiller, David Siegel, Kevin Sitz, Nancy Schrott, Dave Reed, Timothy Wilkinson, Diana Wilkinson, Zoe Wilkinson, Dave Zavatson, Terryl Kocsis, Maria Contreras Tebbutt, Erik Vink, Alice Stewart, Dawn Student, and Jim Walker (and others!). Together, this ragtag team—armed with a brilliant plan, determination, and a healthy appetite for brains —laid the foundation for what the Zombie Bike Parade has become today. And the team continues to grow, bringing in more creative minds and energetic volunteers each year!

This post is a heartfelt tribute to Lea and Dave Rosenberg for bringing this event to life and ensuring its continued success. They are not only the masterminds behind the idea but also longtime major sponsors. The rest of us, the conjurers and animators of the undead who serve on the Zombie Bike Parade Committee each year, extend our deepest gratitude to Dave and Lea for their brilliant minds—and their even bigger hearts.    Enjoy photos from our 2019 inaugural Zombie Bike Parade!
